# Likelyread > Open tracking for Gmail that shows why every open counted. A Chrome extension adds a 1x1 image to the emails you send from Gmail; a small server logs each load of that image and labels it an open, your own view or Apple's prefetch. Free with a Google sign-in on Likelyread Cloud, or self-hosted under the MIT licence with every feature. Facts, as of October 2026: - Likelyread says "opened", never "read": an image loading is all any tracker ever sees. - Verdicts: a hit within 20 seconds of sending, or within 60 seconds of the sender opening the email in Gmail, is a self view. A hit with the bare user agent "Mozilla/5.0" from Apple's network is a prefetch (Apple Mail Privacy Protection loads every image on delivery, read or not). Everything else is an open. Repeat opens through Gmail's image proxy are often missed because the proxy caches the image. - Tracking never blocks or delays a send. If the extension or the server fails, the email goes out as written, untracked, and its registration retries for seven days. - Where opens appear: in Gmail next to each tracked email, in the extension's popup, and on the dashboard at https://app.likelyread.com/ (sign-in required). - Plans: Free, €0, every open with its time and reason, no signature in your emails, a campaign picker in Gmail's compose window, 30 days of history, 500 tracked emails a day. Pro, €36 a year or €5 a month plus VAT, adds open rate and time to open per campaign, sender health (SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks, a safe daily pace, an alert when opens drop), a timeline, busiest hours, filters by campaign and sender, unlimited history and 5,000 tracked emails a day. Launch offer: €59 once for the first 500 accounts. Self-hosted: free, every Pro feature. - Data: Likelyread Cloud keeps your data on a server in Germany, visible only to you, never sold or shared; you can download or delete all of it from your Account page. Self-hosted, everything stays in one SQLite file on your machine. The extension has no analytics either way. - Law: whether you may track opens depends on where your recipients are. In France, the CNIL's April 2026 recommendation says tracking opens to measure a campaign needs the recipient's prior consent, B2B included. - AI agents: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other MCP clients connect to https://app.likelyread.com/mcp with an agent token created on the dashboard's Connect page. The agent adds the pixel, registers each send and reads the opens; it asks before tracking a campaign, and its token cannot change or delete the account. ## Product - [Likelyread](https://likelyread.com/): the verdicts, how it works, what each inbox lets a tracker see, pricing and questions. - [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/likelyread-email-open-tra/gbpbnkffdkbjgjnmgdlicbpgpaompmdd): install the extension, then sign in with Google. - [Dashboard](https://app.likelyread.com/): every tracked email with its hits, verdicts and reasons.
